Microsoft Smart Delivery Feature (Xbox Series X)
What Is The Xbox Series X Smart Delivery system ?
Microsoft has ushered in a new era of backwards comparability with its smart delivery system, Microsoft describes Smart Delivery as a "technology" that allows you to "buy a game once and know that – whether you are playing it on Xbox One or Xbox Series X – you are getting the right version of that game on whatever Xbox you're playing on."
The smart delievery system will apply to ALL exclusive xbox studios games and it will mean that you'll only need to purchase a game once and then it will be available on both consoles. For example if you bought assassins creed Valhalla on xbox one you wont have to purchase the game again for the xbox series X.
Smart Delivery presumably only applies to digital purchases, where game ownership is regulated – but the Xbox news post doesn't actually differentiate between digital and physical games on this front.
essentially you'll be future-proofing your purchase. You won't be playing the Xbox One version of cyberpunk 2077 through backward compatibility on Xbox Series X – your single purchase will get you the version of the game meant for the console you're playing it on.
Smart Delivery presumably only applies to digital purchases, where game ownership is regulated – but the Xbox news post doesn't actually differentiate between digital and physical games on this front Furthermore while Microsoft has committed to supporting smart delivery with all of its first party games and the technology will be available for every developer and publisher theres nothing forcing them to use it so we can only hope !
